    Campari & Imbibe Celebrate A Centenary Of The Negroni During Negroni Week 2019

    Italy’s iconic red aperitif and Imbibe Magazine have allied once again for the seventh year to showcase Negroni Week 2019 – a celebration of the iconic and historic Negroni cocktail.

    Created by Imbibe, Negroni Week is an international charity initiative that took place from the 24th to the 30th of June in bars, restaurants and retailers around the world, dedicated to celebrating the crimson-red cocktail, with Campari at the heart, over the common goal of raising money for charitable initiatives. And this year is even more special, as 2019 marks the 100-year anniversary of the Negroni:

    Negroni Week in Thailand began on June 24th at Bangkok’s iconic Bamboo Bar located within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The raucous launch party featured legendary jazz and passionate dance performances. The Bamboo Bar first opened its doors in the late 1940’s. The bar has played host to some of the world’s most famous patrons, Ray Charles, Sean Connery, Louis Armstrong, Eartha Kitt, Eric Clapton, Roger Moore, Dionne Warwick, Duke Ellington, Marlon Brando, Noël Coward, Bryan Ferry, and Mick Jagger have all enjoyed the atmosphere of the Bamboo Bar with a few of the stars entertaining the lucky guests who happened to be there that night. It’s no wonder why it was named the “Best Hotel Bar” by the Bangkok Bar Awards.

    Negroni Week ended on June 30th with a closing party held at The House on Sathorn next to Bangkok’s W Hotel. The House On Sathorn resides inside a 127-year-old colonial mansion on Sathorn Road in the heart of Bangkok. The mansion has been transformed into a hot venue fuelled with artisanal New Asian Cuisine, signature cocktails, splendid afternoon tea, and experiential vibes.

    With the trend for classic and contemporary cocktails at an all-time high, and the Negroni being one of the world’s most popular cocktails, this year’s Negroni Week shaped up to be the best yet.
    Negroni Week launched in 2013 with about 100 participating bars, and last year’s event welcomed the involvement nearly 10,000 venues in 87 countries, (a 29% increase in participation since 2017) to raise an impressive total of $585,000 for charitable causes in 2018, contributing to a total of nearly $2 million raised since the initiative began.

    Money raised in Thailand went to the Foundation for the Deaf under the Royal Patronage of H.M. The Queen. Established in 1952, The Foundation for the Deaf in Thailand was set up to cater to the special education needs of members of the community with a hearing disability. The charity provides integrated social service support to people with hearing impairment and their families, across Thailand.
