The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel is a five-star hotel in the heart of downtown Bangkok. It’s located on the grounds of a former royal residence known as Kandhavas Palace on tree-lined Wireless Road. Kandhavas was the palace of Princess Valaya Alongkorn, daughter of Chulalongkorn, King Rama V (1853 – 1910) and the grand-aunt of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Rama X.
The iconic 29-storey Athenee Hotel is renowned as one of the most prestigious addresses in the city. With its engaging blend of Thai and European style, guests are assured a stay of luxury and refinement enriched by memorable culinary journeys at award-winning restaurants, and the discovery of authentic local treasures in a captivating city.
Renowned as one of Bangkok’s most impressive venues for meetings and events, The Athenee Hotel includes the multi-functional Atheneum Meeting Rooms and Lounge for business events and social gatherings, and Pimarn Siam Hall for glamorous wedding and banquets. The hotel also holds the distinction of being the first hotel in the world to achieve ISO 20121 certification for planning and delivering sustainable events.
The Athenee has also become known as an Epicurean Hub because of its eight food & beverage outlets.
Several years ago, The Athenee remodeled its four third-floor restaurants to form a dining destination of high quality, diverse cuisines. The restaurants are now grouped around a central hall on the third floor, and together with their private dining rooms take up the entire floor.
The seventy-four seat Allium Bangkok celebrates European haute cuisine using only the highest quality ingredients imported internationally and with up to half the land-based agricultural produce sourced from local suppliers of organic food.
The restaurant’s Bar staff focuses on bespoke cocktails and use botanicals grown in the hotel herb garden. The wine list features over 200 labels, with a strong emphasis on old-world wines from France and Italy as well as a large selection of natural, biodynamic and organic wines.
Authentic Thai cuisine is presented at The House of Smooth Curry, with thirty-eight seats in the main dining room, twelve seats in their private room and a further twenty-four seats outside on the terrace.
Authentic Thai cuisine from the four regions of Thailand are prepared by Chef Montri Jiratitankit with a focus on recipes from royal palaces and residences, and with an emphasis on the enormous diversity of curries that originate from every part of the country. All vegetables, rice, fruit, spices and herbs are sourced from quality local suppliers, who themselves farm by organic methods. The restaurant also uses spices grown in the hotel herb garden.
The Athenee’s Classic Cantonese Restaurant, The Silk Road accommodates forty-two in the main dining room and forty-eight in five private dining rooms. Although the menu is classic Cantonese, it has a 21st-century edge, with Chef Cheng Kam Sing preparing dishes that are rooted in age-old traditions yet inspired by modern interpretations and cooking techniques.
Along with sourcing the finest ingredients and extracting the authentic, natural flavours, use of seasonal ingredients ensures that each visit reveals a different experience. The selection of the choicest Chinese teas is also presented with a ritual based upon tradition.
