The Miss Hua Hin Charity & Dog Lover contest was the brainchild of Tanya Vijitsirisomphong, the editor of this magazine. Her idea was to have a contest where the winner would be a role model for Hua Hin charitable endeavors which includes helping Hua Hin’s homeless street dog population.
On Thursday December 20th all of the contestants met at the Wat Khao Tao to begin their day of charitable works. The ladies started by giving the Khao Tao Temple a deep cleaning much to the appreciation of the Monks who reside there. Next it was feeding, spending time and giving love to all of the ownerless dogs that live at the Temple. Finally the girls moved to the nearby beach where they all worked hard to clean it of debris for the betterment of all those who enjoy the area.
After a full day of hard work it was off to Electric Mango for a pre-party event where the girls were taught how to walk and pose for the Gala Charity Dinner by Thai-French Supermodel, actress and singer Odette Henriette Jacqmin.
At Friday night’s gala dinner all of the contestants were presented on stage and were each asked a question that concerned charity and how they felt about Hua Hin’s street dogs. Based on their answers as well as the enthusiasm they showed at the previous day’s event the winners were chosen.
The fourth runner-up was Khun Thanaphorn Sonchit, third runner- up was Khun Gingkarn Siriphon, second runner-up was Khun Nareerat Homleart, first runner-up was Khun Lisa Hedlund, and the winner of the Miss Hua Hin CDL contest was Khun Pornthavee Phuyardfha, representing Market Café.
Before the winners were announced there was a competition for Miss Popular Hua Hin. Guests had the opportunity to buy hearts for 100 baht each. Each contestant walked on stage and was then given hearts by those who felt she should win Miss Popular Hua Hin. Ms. Namfon Srileam representing Electric Mango won the Miss Popular Contest and over 48,000 baht in total was raised for Rescue Paws through the sale of hearts.
