On the 12th of December HOT Magazine in association with the animal charity Rescue Paws hosted a Gala Charity Dinner at the Amari Hua Hin Seaside Resort. The purpose of the evening was two-fold. The first was to raise money to improve the plight of Hua Hin’s homeless and helpless street dogs and the second was to crown Miss Hua Hin Thailand 2015.
The evening started with a social hour where guests enjoyed free flow wine while mingling and enjoying the soulful sax of Daniel.
The non-stop wine continued throughout the evening which moved on to the Amari’s well known sensational buffet. This Miss Hua Hin Thailand contest was broken into two segments with a musical interlude provided by DJ Takafusa from Japan.
A raffle was held to win wonderful prizes which were donated by Hua Hin’s local business’s. New Hua Hin resident John Chambers made the largest private donation in the amount of 35,000 THB.
The Miss Hua Hin contest got its start in November of 2014 at the very first fundraiser HOT Magazine hosted, which was also held at the Amari Hua Hin. The Miss Hua Hin Contest is not just about beauty but also a person’s charitable heart. Miss Hua Hin and her court will be role models for charitable giving and the spokeswomen for HOT Magazine’s charitable endeavors.
The newly crowned Miss Hua Hin is Khun Kanthicha Chimsiri, nicknamed “Yui.” Khun Yui’s court includes Khun Panadda Phomtheap, nicknamed “Ning” and Warinthon Falshoj, nicknamed “Golf”. Miss Popular Vote was Khun Warunee Muangklang.
One of Miss Hua Hin’s first duties will be going to the remote area of Tak in northern Thailand where HOT Magazine has adopted a school. Once there she and her court will be giving out donated blankets, food, school items and toys to the appreciative and needy children.
Rescue Paws, the other co-host for the evening is a non-profit organization created by The Global Work & Travel Co. based in Australia, and XploreAsia, based in Thailand. Started in 2013, Rescue Paws aims to first stabilize and then reduce the stray animal population in Thailand over time through vaccinations, sterilization, adoptions, and education to get it to a manageable level.
Rescue Paws’ operation includes a staff of full time employees, volunteer vets and coordinators operating from their headquarters in Hua Hin. Rescue Paws feeds and closely monitors the medical health of hundreds of stray dogs in the Hua Hin region. Treated animals are tagged, released and monitored as part of our daily routine. Wounded animals are assisted with medical treatment. Rescue Paws also conducts local and international adoptions and raises awareness through educational visits to local schools.
One of Rescue Paws innovative programs is getting American and Canadian visitors to Thailand to act as flight volunteer’s on their return trip home by bringing a dog with them. Many dogs have been adopted by American and Canadian’s and are waiting delivery. Rescue Paws provides and pays for everything so there is no cost to the flight volunteer. The dog is sent as added baggage saving significant costs to Rescue Paws. For more information, contact them at +66625536043 or by email at admin@rescue-paws.org.
HOT Magazine would like to give very special thanks to the companies listed below for their thoughtful donations which helped make our benefit Gala Dinner a success. Through their kindness a large number of Hua Hin’s street dogs are now healthier after being vaccinated and continually fed. These companies below are also helping to reduce the rising street dog population through Rescue Paws sterilization program. We at HOT Magazine applaud them.
