On Friday March 18th, True Arena Hua Hin held the grandest of Grand Opening ceremonies. Over 500 people joined in with many well-known Thai National Athletes participating in their given sport. Just a few who participated included Yaowapa Boorapolchai, an Olympic Bronze medalist in Taekwondo, Paradorn Srichaphan, the first Thai tennis player to be ranked in the ATP top 10, Thailand’s National Rugby Sevens team & the Vana Nava Hua Hin City Football Club. Other sports represented with top Thai athletes demonstrating their talent included Cycling, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Snooker, Table Tennis and Futsal.
In addition to the athletes, over 100 media descended on True Arena for the event with most coming from Bangkok and everyone in attendance was well fed with the InterContinental Resort Hua Hin providing the catering.
True Arena Hua Hin occupies 40 rai of land with 11 tournament ready tennis courts paved with PlexiCushion Technology, the same surface as the Australian Open’s Rod Laver Arena, and equipped with Musco Lighting to support HD broadcasting. True Arena also has two FIFA regulation football pitches, a 1,500 square meter fitness center, a multi-sports air conditioned gymnasium, which can be converted for Badminton, volleyball, basketball, futsal, boxing and more. In addition to the fitness facility, their four story clubhouse also houses an all-day international dining restaurant called Maria’s as well as a sports bar and a 25-meter roof top swimming pool along with the Hawk Eye Bar.
True Arena is uniquely poised to become the most significant sports complex of its kind in the AEC. His Excellency Suwat Liptapanlop, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, and host of the opening ceremony explained, “With this kind of facility, there is no doubt that Hua Hin will soon become another “Sports Capital” of the AEC. Sport is an important driver of Thailand’s tourism, which is crucial to the country’s overall economic development. Having large scale sport facilities like this will no doubt attract many international tournaments.
At the opening ceremony, Proud Real Estate also announced that the True Group has been signed on as the naming sponsor for the entire venue.

True Arena Hua Hin is expected to host at least 40 professional tennis tournaments over the next year following the success of the WTA125, the ATP 125 and the World Tennis Invitational that were held at the venue last year.
