One of Hua Hin’s “Must Attend” social events of the season is happening on Saturday April 25th when the Asian Beach Polo tournament returns to the InterContinental Hua Hin Resort and Spa. Purposely built in front of the InterCon will be grandstands, food and beverage tents along with Asian Beach Polo clothing and other items available for purchase.
In its sixth year, this well-attended happening has become a yearly highlight for celebrities, socialites and well healed expats who enjoy a thrilling polo match as well as a sophisticated evening gathering.
The Princess Pa’s Cup as it is known, is organized by Khun Suwat Liptapanlop, Advisory Chairman of the Organizing committee along with Mr. Harald Link, President of the Thailand Equestrian Federation and Ms. Nunthinee Tanner who is a co-owner with Mr. Link of the Thai Polo and Equestrian Club, a 2,000 rai facility near Pattaya.
This yearly charity event raise’s money for the Kamlangjai Project initiated by HRH Princess Barakitiyabha. The Kamlangjai Project provides support and encouragement to people who made mistakes and were as a result brought into the justice process and other groups in need of opportunity, to become good citizens of society.
The program for the day starts at 2:30 pm with welcome drinks and finger food along with shopping, games and activities. Following will be an opening ceremony at 3pm by Khun Suwat and then guests will enjoy Kid’s polo, a children’s fashion show on horseback and horse racing. At 4:30 the final match of the Asian Beach Polo Championship will take place to determine the winner followed by the presentation of the Princess Pa’s Cup at 5:30.
At 7 pm, the evening party kicks in with the theme “The Summer Wind” with the mood and tone of the party being a picnic on the beach with tasty, freshly cooked Thai and International food served. Entertainment will be provided by the Academy Fantasia 1 winner Vit-Pachrapon Jantieng who will sing songs of Frank Sinatra and Micheal Buble. Later there will be a catwalk fashion show and an auction of watercolor paintings by local artists.
In years past, there were two types of ticket you could buy for the event. A day-time ticket for 1,000 baht and a day time & nighttime ticket for 1,500. This year just one ticket of 1,000 baht will get you into both the day-time and night-time festivities. A small price to pay for a big day and night of fun, all in the name of Charity.
