Bangkok is a city that has grown a very big reputation for its malls and shopping centres. The wonderful thing about this, is that it has begun to satisfy the different types of demands, not for malls themselves, but more and more for mall styles. This month we check-in at the Central Festival Eastville. Built under the concept of “Bangkok Escape”, it is intended to allow the visitor to move away from the city noise and pollution to stroll in a more natural and friendly environment. If you enjoy marvelling at the beauty of modern architecture while you walk around the convenience of an all-purpose nature themed shopping mall, do read on!
The Central Festival Eastville was opened in late November in Lad Phrao. It is the first mall of its type in Bangkok and has been uncovering passions amongst its already numerous visitors due to the combination of various models and themes which make up its inside.
Opened by the Central Group, it has cost a whooping six billion baht to build. It’s motto is “The Oasis of Urbanite Culture” and it certainly is a wonderful and special environment to visit. Combining simple waving patterns in its terraced levels, along with a touch of nature, the Central Festival Eastville does not have that artificial feel associated with today’s malls. Why? Trees, wooden pane floors, natural light, tainted glass and classic brick wall layouts give the place a truly comfortable vibe. The architects thoughtfully calculated the daily movement of the sun in order to make the rays shine through exactly where they wanted them, as well as to make the most of the gusts of wind that refresh the ambiance.
But the greatest convenience of the Central Festival Eastville is that the style combines with the availability of everything you could possibly need. Over two hundred shops and restaurants are located within the 160,000 square metres of the compound. Adidas, Converse, Crocs, New Balance, Havaianas, Levis, Giordano, Playboy… The list goes on. Fancy a bite to eat? The list gets even better! Zen Sushi and Sake, KFC, Santa Fe Steak, Sizzlerm Chabuton, Ootoya, perhaps some dessert at Swensen’s and Iberry or some pastries at Sait Etoile?
But food and clothing is not all there is to the Central Festival Eastville. Are you a technology geek or simply in need of electronic products? Then say no more, as within the second floor of this mall you can find the all kinds of different companies and services, from SIM providers such as AIS, True or DTAC, to phone shops such as Samsung – and it doesn’t stop there, as you will equally find a market for your cameras, laptops or other gadgetry at JIB, Jaymart, Big camera… You name it!
The Central Festival Eastville is definitely a place that one must go visit, both for the suitability of its many stores and to experience the wonderful beauty of its interior designing. Are you planning to escape the hectic Bangkok life any time soon? Then what are you waiting for?
