A few weeks ago, I attended the gala dinner after Beach Polo at the Intercontinental Hua Hin. The hit for me that evening was the smoked Beef Brisket. Then this week I learned that Hot Magazine was doing a review of the 111 Social House restaurant, which was responsible for that beef brisket. I thought that I was in heaven.
111 Social House is part of the Intercontinental Hua Hin family. It is in a prime location, on the water’s edge in front of the Intercontinental Residences. The ambience is of an older style plantation house, with indoor and outdoor garden and beachfront seating. We were there to preview their new menu items that will premiere on May 15.
The first dish that was bought out was Smoked Chicken Tacos with pineapple salsa and yogurt dressing. This was a culinary experience that perfectly balanced flavors and textures. The tender and smoky chicken offers a rich and savory taste that is complimented beautifully by the zesty pineapple salsa. The pineapple is locally grown here in Hua Hin, and is deliciously sweet. Additionally, the yogurt dressing added a creamy element that tied everything together. The combination of elements created a truly mouthwatering experience that left a lasting impression. This is a must-try dish far anyone looking for a delicious and well-balanced meal.
Next was the Soft-Shell Salad with mango and avocado dressing, The presentation of the soft-shell crab was visually stunning, with vibrant colors and ingredients that enticed the senses. The crispy, yet tender soft-shell crabs were cooked to perfection, giving way to the succulent and flavorful meat within. The pairing of the mango and avocado dressing was a stroke of genius. The sweet and tangy notes of the mango complemented the rich and creamy avocado texture. Thus, the chef had created a blend of flavors that elevated the dish to a whole new level. The flavors and textures will leave the diner craving more.
Then came the BBQ Bourbon Chicken with blue cheese dressing, which was a tantalizing dish that offered a robust blend of flavors. The grilled chicken, basted in a smoky-sweet bourbon infused BBQ sauce was succulent and tender. It offered a complex profile that was both savory and slightly sweet. The dressing’s creamy texture and slightly pungent taste added a unique twist to the dish. The dish exuded a mouthwatering aroma that hinted at the flavors awaiting to be savored.
The Smoked Beef Brisket and Jacket Potato, with apple slaw, truffle, and wonton crisps blended hearty flavors with elegant touches. The tender and deeply flavorful sixteen hour smoked brisket melted in the mouth. This was expertly complemented by the taste of potatoes. The addition of apple slaw and truffle provided a delightful contrast of sweet and earthy elements. The crispy fried wonton crisps added a satisfying crunch. This blend of flavors truly showcased culinary creativity and skill. The presentation was also aesthetically pleasing. The visual presentation, enticing aroma, and ultimately the taste will please the senses of every diner looking for a new presentation of beef brisket
Next was the Pulled Pork Chowder with sour cream, served with baguette made fresh on site. This is a hearty dish that exemplifies the essence of soul-warming comfort food. The tender and succulent pulled pork was beautifully braised and permeated the hearty stew. The addition of potatoes added a satisfying starchy element that soaked up the flavorful broth. The dollop of cool and tangy sour cream on top provided a contrast to the flavors of the stew. The visual appeal and flavorful aromas of the pulled pork stew turned heads in the restaurant. This dish is a testament to the beauty and simplicity of a delicious soul-soothing meal.
The Thai Giant Prawns with Thai chimichurri sauce and smoked pineapple was the next culinary delight. This bold Thai dish fused Thai flavors with creative cooking. The giant prawns were cooked to perfection, showcasing a succulent and juicy texture that was enhanced by the home made, aromatic Thai chimichurri sauce. The smoked pineapple provided a unique twist to the dish, imparting both a subtle smokiness and caramelized sweetness. Visually and aromatically the dish invites diners with the promise of a sensory journey filled with bold flavors.
The last of the entrees was an Indonesian inspired Chorizo Fried Rice prepared with a bit of beef fat, topped by a fried egg. The Indonesian twist created a delectable fusion of flavors, The savory chorizo added a deep umami flavor. The combination of tender vegetables, aromatic garlic and ginger, and a little heat from chili paste definitely pleased the palate. Each bite was a medley of textures and tastes, with the chewy rice contrasting nicely with the crisp chorizo and the tender vegetables. The visual presentation was pleasing to the eyes. The chorizo was topped by a fried egg, and side garnishes included crushed peanuts, limes, and jalapeno peppers. Keeping with the theme of originality, the jalapenos were actually pickled here at 111 Social House. This is a classic and must try dish.
No meal should end without dessert, and here you’ll be tempted to have several. The first dessert served was an Espresso Tart, which turned out to be divine, as it elevates the fusion of dark chocolate and espresso to new levels of decadence. The intense richness of espresso danced on the taste buds. The addition of the coulis adds a touch of sophistication and brightness. The fruit infused sauce provides a contrast, but also provides a layer of tangy sweetness. The final touch is a piece of white chocolate topping the tart. This all creates an elegant truly luscious dessert, making it a truly memorable culinary experience.
Next was the Chocolate Espresso Tart, a chocolate and caramel sphere filled with caramel cream. The deep cocoa notes are noticed as they shine through without overwhelming the taste buds. It is served with strawberries, blueberries, and nuts. With its elegant presentation and delectable taste, this dessert will truly satisfy even the most dessert connoisseurs.
And last but not least was the Crème Fruit Chiffon Tart, a tropical pavlova with cream Chantilly, strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi. The light chocolate chiffon cake is the perfect base, with its delicate, yet not overly chocolatey taste. The creamy Chantilly adorning the chocolate chiffon cake complements its lightness. The addition of the strawberries, and tropical fruits introduces a burst of sweetness that highlights the already luscious taste. The tastes and textures of this tart, featuring a slight lemony flavor epitomizes a perfect summer dessert.
