What do you like most about Bangkok?
Bangkok is a vibrant city, alive day and night, you can choose to live in a very quiet neighborhood or in a busy district with a large choice of activities, sports clubs, bars and restaurants, department stores. It’s a cosmopolitan city with the authenticity of Thai culture and, at the same time, many influences of foreign culture.
What is your favorite restaurant, and why?
I have few favorite restaurants, Japanese, Thai, Korean, French where I go regularly because I know the quality of food and service is consistent and, at the same time, the choice of dishes is still innovative. A few of my favourites include Brasserie 9, a French fine dining restaurant, Sushi Masato a Michelin starred Omakase restaurant, as well as the food court at Seri Market the nine Rama IX.
What is your favorite “Special Occasion” restaurant, and why?
I like the one Michelin starred Sushi Masato which I mentioned above and get there almost every month. Chef Masato always offers an excellent omakase experience. Everything is handled with care and from bottom of the heart of the chef. Reservations are essential and slots open monthly on the 15th, as the restaurant is very popular and seats are limited.
What do you like to do in your free time, and why?
I like to be active on social media, to follow friends, to know more about new places for entertainment through testimonies of people I know and, at the same time, to exchange about my own experiences, positive ones mainly.
Where do you recommend first time visitors to Bangkok go, and why?
I recommend to the people to explore old districts of Bangkok like Chinatown and around the Chao Praya river banks, don’t scare to be lost, probably you will find small food stands offering delicious authentic Thai food or an old store which has not really changed since the Rattanakosin period.
On a night out with friends, where do you like to go, and why?
I like to explore new places for enjoying food with friends and we appreciate restaurants where there is a real care taken in the choice of wines. The historic Bamboo Bar at the Mandarin Oriental is a favorite, as well as The Commons on Thong Lor.
Tell us a surprising fact that the public might not know about you?
I am not particularly gifted to learn foreign languages but I have a good ear and I catch easily the words prononciation and, even I can say only few words in Icelandic or in Tagalog, the people are surprised by the fact that my way of speaking is similar to a native one.
What is the most outlandish thing you have ever done?
I think what one of the outlandish things I did, particularly for a Thai individual, is to enjoy a bath outdoor with temperatures reaching minus zero in the middle of a snow storm, of course in a natural hot spring in Iceland.
