Let’s Stay, Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15, Bangkok

    October 17, 20184 Mins Read

Seventy years of doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way

For the company’s late founder, Ueli Prager, the secret to running a business was uncomplicated and unpretentious: “We don’t do anything that’s really extraordinary,” the legendary Swiss hotelier was fond of saying. “We are successful because we simply do normal things in an extraordinary way.”
Ueli got his start when he opened his first of many restaurant’s in Switzerland in 1948. In 1962 his company started its wine distribution business, 1963 saw the start of his coffee business, 1969, Ice Cream production and in 1973 he established the companies Hotel Group with two hotels in Switzerland.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has expanded exponentially since then and today manages more than 20,000 rooms in 84 hotels across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia with 42 additional hotels under development and set to open by 2021.
Recently, the Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 opened its third tower and it is there that the HOT Magazine team recently had the pleasure of staying. With the third tower addition the hotel now offers 363 well-appointed rooms and suites.
You can choose from 7 different room types, starting with their Classic Room’s at 28 to 30 sqm’s of room space to their Executive Suite Room’s at 60 sqm’s of space. Those staying in the Executive rooms, as we did, have access to the hotels Executive Lounge which features free soft drinks and snacks during the day as well as evening cocktails from 5:30 to 8:00pm. You also have the option of having breakfast there and they will laundry 3 pcs per day complimentary.
The main restaurant in the hotel is called Lelawadee. Here is where breakfast is served as well as lunch and dinner. On the top floor you will find their Rainforest Rooftop bar that is part laid-back lounge and part skyline oasis, where guests gather each evening to enjoy the sunset with beers, classic cocktails and Tapas-style snacks. The rooftop also has a 20 meter swimming pool with Jacuzzi bench and plenty of deck chairs to soak in the tropical sun.
The hotel’s contemporary Lobby Bar is a great spot to unwind or catch up with friends. Try their delicious pastries, fresh brewed coffee, classic cocktails and Tapas style snacks, all complemented by their friendly service and the relaxing atmosphere.
When people think of Switzerland, many think of the chocolates that they are so famous for. Every Mövenpick, no matter where it is located in the world, features a complimentary “Chocolate Hour Buffet” from 4 to 5pm daily. Depending on the day, you can find chocolate cake, mousse, éclairs, brownies, truffles, chocolate fountains and much more!
If you’ve over indulged at the chocolate buffet you can always head up to the Mövenpick’s Fitness Centre where you will find a full suite of free weights, a Smith machine, elliptical cross-trainers, treadmills and exercise bikes: everything you need to burn off travel stress in comfort.
Ideally located down the quiet street of Sukhumvit Soi 15, the Mövenpick is in between Asoke and Nanna in Bangkok’s Central Business District. Terminal 21, one of Bangkok’s most popular shopping mall is five minutes away by complimentary shuttle. Just around the corner on Soi 11 you can find Bangkok’s famed nightlife offering an electric array of Thai and international restaurants, clubs, pubs and coffee shops with some open to the early hours.
The hotel caters to leisure travelers as well as those coming to Bangkok for business. Corporate events, business meetings and even weddings are all catered in full. The grand 180 square metre Lotus Ballroom connects to a 120 square metre foyer, for pre-function drinks overlooking the central waterfall. The 120 square metre Orchid Room serves conferences perfectly, with an adjoining exhibition space enabling distinct planning. The 86 square metre Garden Room offers a pillar-free design and artificial grass flooring as a break from the traditional meeting room concept.

No matter whether you are traveling to Bangkok for fun or for business, the Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok is the ideal place to hang your hat. It’s located in the heart of Bangkok’s central business district but down a quiet side soi where you are enveloped by a feeling of secluded peacefulness.
