On the 21st of November, Hot Hua Hin Magazine & Hot Hua Hin Property hosted a Red Carpet Wine & Charity Gala Dinner at the Amari Hua Hin Seaside Resort. The aim of the evening was to raise money for Rescue Paws, an organization dedicated to helping homeless and helpless soi dogs.
The owners of Hot Hua Hin, Russ Downing and Tanya Vijitsirisomphong are keen animal lovers who felt it was time there was a fun and glamorous event that benefitted homeless Soi Dogs in Hua Hin and Pranburi. They recognize that not everyone is a dog lover but they believe that sterilizing dogs and treating them against diseases such as rabies is good for everyone in Hua Hin.
Rescue Paws was chosen as the beneficiary due to their work in building a non-profit veterinary clinic at the Koh Tao Temple. The money generated from the evening will be used to help complete the clinic as well as paying the salary of an in house vet. Once completed, local dog charities will be able to bring their dogs who need medical attention or sterilization and be billed only for the cost of medicines. This will allow many more dogs to be treated as opposed to the current practice where soi dogs are taken to retail Veterinary Clinics. The charity was represented on the evening by Paang Panintorn and Jaco Kleinloog.
The list of those in attendance read like the social registry of Hua Hin with former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Khun Suwat Liptapanlop preceding over the evening as Honorary Chairman. Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Vuttikul and his wife were in attendance along with members from Hua Hin’s property sector, the Hua Hin Women’s Club, Khun Lizzy with Andrew Stocks and The Power of Love Organization, dog lovers and others just wanting to join in the revelry. It was an impressive sight as the guests started to arrive, especially the women of Hua Hin dressed in their beautiful evening gowns.
The night started off with the guests receiving goodie bags with great gift items inside including a one of kind Rescue Paws bracelet, Spa items from Let’s Relax and designer Cork Screws from Homeless Furniture. The Amari’s GM, Christoph Leonhard arranged for the very best in buffet selection which was served with an abundance of free flow wine from 6 until 10pm.
As soon as guests sat down, Robin Coster, the M.C. for the night outlined the evening’s events followed by the opening address by Khun Suwat Liptapanlop who not only showed his support by being the Honorary Chairman but also by donating 50,000 THB.
The dinner was followed by a raffle and auction for those wanting to take advantage of great vouchers from the sponsors. Items on offer during the evening included 5 star hotel stays, food & beverage vouchers and spa treatments. The Auction was followed by a contest for the title Miss Hua Hin Charity & Dog Lover (C.D.L) 2014. The winner (see following story) will represent HOT Hua Hin Magazine and Rescue Paws charity during 2014-2015.
