A South East Asia yacht charter ticks all the boxes. Easy to reach, calm waters, delightful locals, and magnificent seas under tropical skies. It is a yacht charter paradise. A long-established favourite corner of the world for connoisseurs of this unique combination of luxury, relaxation, and privacy.
Yacht Charters have experienced a surge in popularity since we were introduced to Covid in 2020. When chartering a yacht, you can design a bespoke holiday and share it with your family & friends.
One of the most excellent yachts available for charter in this corner of the world is the Phuket-based Ocean Emerald.
Launched in 2009, the 41 metre, (135 foot) Ocean Emerald broke all the rules when it came to boat design. Legendary British architect Lord Norman Foster designed her, and he is known for not doing conventional. The man has given the world such landmark buildings as London’s 30 St. Mary Axe, better known as the “Gherkin,” the spaceship-like Apple campus in Cupertino, California, and the ocean liner-style Yacht Club de Monaco.
Nigel Plaskett, Ocean Emerald’s current owner, has had her for eight years. During that time, he’s overseen two full interior refits using local Thai artisans. The last one, carried out in 2019, saw the interior go ultra-modern to match the Yacht’s dramatic exterior.
Ocean Emerald features five elegant suites that can accommodate up to 12 guests. Each of the spacious suites onboard boasts a stylish and sophisticated design, complete with en-suite bathrooms. The master suite is particularly noteworthy. Full-length windows give way to two private balconies that maximize ocean views. The lower deck houses the two double bed VIP staterooms and two cabin rooms with Pullman beds. There is also ample space for Ocean Emerald nine crew to ensure a safe and comfortable superyacht charter. Additional space is allocated for the ultramodern kitchen and fitness room.
The Ocean Emerald superyacht was designed to accentuate lighting for every occasion – with smart architectural floor-to-ceiling windows in most rooms. Natural daylight is abundant as well as a state-of-the-art lighting system with scene-setting ceilings. So, when the sun goes down, you can create your own serenity onboard the Ocean Emerald.
Ocean Emerald’s four decks are connected by a spiral glass staircase, purposely designed, so each area is filled with natural daylight. The superyacht’s generous Sun Deck is sitting prominently at the top with a bar, storable gym equipment, and retractable hardtop Bimini. This space is perfect for lounging and entertainment. The Upper Deck transports you to a seafront beach hut with its coconut husk fibre flooring and unobstructed views. The Main Deck includes elegant furniture and home cinema screen, cleverly hidden in the ceiling. The Lower Deck is host to the guest accommodations and holds a garage that stows two Jet Skis and a boat tender.
Onboard the superyacht, you will find an array of high-end toys, including a four-seater Sea-Doo Jet Boat, two Sea-Doo Jet Skis, a two-seater kayak, paddleboard, and towable inflatables. There are also four full sets of diving equipment and 12 snorkelling sets, and much more for the adventurous.
As you would expect, the Ocean Emerald boasts world-class chefs who are at your service, creating a gourmet dining experience tailored precisely to your tastes.
Using only the finest ingredients found locally in Southeast Asia and imported globally, their chefs have created an eclectic signature menu for the ultimate culinary experience. Always ready to be challenged and inspired, the chefs are thrilled to create new and exciting dishes for guests at any time.
When it comes to dining, the crew will design the perfect atmosphere in one of Ocean Emerald’s many dining areas, indoor or al fresco. On the Yacht or a beach on a deserted island you’ve anchored off of.
Just as every moment on the Ocean Emerald is entirely customized, so is the length of your voyage. There are no minimums or maximums that you must charter this beautiful vessel, and you don’t have to limit your adventure to Thailand. Because of its length and its 2,600 nautical mile range, you and your guests can comfortably and safely explore the waters of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and even further afield.
Currently, with many countries implementing Covid restrictions, a yachting holiday within the Kingdom is the best idea, but don’t worry, there is no shortage of islands, bays, and beaches to visit that will create lifelong memories.
According to the owner, pre-covid, “The nicest trip is usually to Ko Chang or Cambodia then across to Ko Samui, Ko Tao, and Ko Pha Ngan, and finally back up to Bangkok. It’s a triangle that ticks a lot of boxes – there’s a good mix of authentic Thailand alongside more luxurious tourist spots within easy reach.”
