In Chiang Mai, in the late 1800’s, the importance and wealth of a property owner was often measured by the size of their Lanna-style Thai home, and in particular, how many pillars the house had. The more pillars, the more important you were.
Built in the late 1800’s as part of the Borneo Company’s Thailand headquarters, a grand house was constructed out of beautiful teakwood with 137 Pillars. In the early 2000’s the home was purchased and carefully restored to reflect its 19th-century origins and in 2011 opened as the 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai. The resort has become one of the most photographed and popular resorts in the Kingdom.
Inspired by the Chiang Mai property, In 2017, 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok opened in the heart of the Sukhumvit-Thonglor area.
Their Bangkok location consists of 34 luxurious suites on the upper levels of the property, and 179 serviced residences, all done in a contemporary style on Sukhumvit Soi 39.
Suites
The hotels 34 Luxurious Suites range from 70–127 sqms. and come with around-the-clock access to the rooftops iconic 360 degrees infinity pool and cabanas, as well as access to the Baan Borneo Club lounge on Level 26. The Baan Borneo Club is for the exclusive use of suite guests and private members. The lounge offers a harvest breakfast table with a full selection of a la carte breakfast items, afternoon tea and pre-dinner cocktails and supper.
All suites offer butler service, separate pantries with private wine cellars and maxi bar’s offering a full range of beverages. Further, all suites come with Bose sound systems, comfortable Posturepedic Ultra Plush beds and 400 thread-count Egyptian cotton linen. Outside you’ll find spacious balconies outfitted with their signature 137 Pillars House rocking chair, a large daybed for two as well as a coffee table and chairs.
The Sukhothai Suites, of which there are twelve, are 70-sqms in size with either king or twin bed configurations. They have a 35-sqm marble bathroom with luxurious walk-in wardrobes, walk-in shower and stunning views from the 137 Pillars designed bathtub.
There are eighteen Ayutthaya Suites, which at 95-sqm’s consist of a spacious bedroom, an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, a circular bathtub and built-in TV, along with a roomy walk-in wardrobe. Additionally, there is a large comfortable living room with a dining table and a separate guest bathroom.
The two Thonburi Suites are bigger yet at 116-sqm’s and offer a a spacious living room, featuring a private dining table and separate entertainment area connected with a large balcony, which offers a comfortable rocking chair, large daybed, as well as a coffee table and chairs with sunsets views. A separate guest bathroom completes the living area facilities. The bedroom and en-suite bathroom offers unobstructed sunrise views, and also includes a walk-in wardrobe.
The premiere suites, of which there are two, are the Rattanakosin Suites at 127-sqm’s. Here you’ll find two-bedroom’s with a connecting living room and private dining area. Both bedrooms have walk-in wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers and a spacious bathtub and built-in TV in the master bathroom. The master bedroom has an oversize king bed, and the second bedroom can be adapted to either twin bed or king bed configuration as per preference.
Serviced Residences

Amenities at 137 Pillars are plentiful and include their brightly lit and airy fitness centre on Level 6.
