The international hotel brand Sheraton got its start in the in the 1930’s when Ernest Henderson and Robert Moore acquired several hotels in the state of Massachusetts in the USA. In the 1940’s the men expanded the hotel chain greatly and even listed the company on the New York Stock Exchange, the first hotel chain to do so.
Sheraton was also the first Western company to operate a hotel in the People’s Republic of China, assuming management of the state-built Great Wall Hotel in Beijing, which became the Great Wall Sheraton. As of last year, 2021, the Sheraton operated 437 hotels around the world with 153,242 rooms and over 140,000 employees.

When it comes to dining, you have a choice of award-winning restaurants. At Rossini’s, the recipient of a Michelin Plate award, diners can enjoy modern Italian cuisine in the sophisticated setting of a Tuscan villa. The restaurant regularly hosts wine dinners, often with Michelin star chefs, and its enticing menu is complemented by an award-winning wine list, “primoVino by Rossini’s”.
Orchid Café is an elegant all-day dining venue that adds a sense of occasion to every lunch and dinner. Created to impress, the beautifully displayed buffet includes a feast of enticing cuisines from around the world. The restaurant is renowned in Bangkok for its delicious weekday lunch and dinner menus and for its Weekend Grande Seafood Dinners, it’s the perfect restaurant for dining with friends, family or business clients.
The enchanting tropical garden at The Sala is a wonderful setting for dining alfresco by the pool at lunchtime or a barbecue under the stars in the evening, serving light Asian and Western delights.
You can also dine or meet for cocktails and music at Bangkok’s premier live jazz lounge, The Living Room, where you’ll enjoy performances from the finest international jazz talent, including Grammy Award winners. Live music and creative casual dining can also be found at the hotel’s BarSu or enjoy a cocktail on their outdoor terrace while soaking in the Bangkok city lights.
Challenge your senses at their Dine in the Dark. Designed to raise awareness about blindness, their restaurant Dine in the Dark encourages you to experience your other senses. For each diner, the hotel makes a donation to the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand, based in Bangkok.
Finally, the hotel’s Le Petit Chef restaurant serves Asian-Fusion while offering an extraordinary high-tech visual mapping, light and sound experience. During your dinner, a 58mm animated chef is projected onto your plate, ‘cooking’ food in front of you.
Although eating and drinking are delightful pursuits, you’re not confined to just those during your stay. The Grand Spa is a sanctuary where the purity of stillness and silence creates a refuge for your body and soul. After a hectic day of business, sightseeing or shopping, treat yourself to a traditional or contemporary spa treatment.
After your spa visit, take in the Sheraton’s lagoon style swimming pool. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, it is a secluded oasis where you can escape the city and experience total relaxation.
For those who are more athletically inclined, the hotel’s well equipped fitness club has plenty of free weights, machines, cardio equipment and fitness classes. For early risers, it opens at 5:30 and closes its doors at 10pm.
Regarded as one of the finest business meeting venues in Asia, the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit makes good business sense for meetings, incentives, & conferences. Equipped with the latest technology, you can host your next meeting or private function in their new 250 square meter Royal Suite or in one of eight versatile meeting rooms, including their impressive Grande Ballroom with 9-meter-high ceilings. The venue can accommodate up to 500 guests for a chic cocktail reception or 380 diners for an unforgettable banquet. The ballroom is also the perfect choice for weddings or banquets.
The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is in the heart of the central business district with terrific shopping. It features a convenient pedestrian skybridge link to the BTS Asok SkyTrain and the MRT Sukhumvit subway stations. You’re just steps away from the Terminal 21 shopping mall and just one SkyTrain stop away from the Emporium and EmDistrict. Central Embassy, Siam Paragon and the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center are all just a few SkyTrain stops away. Cultural highlights such as The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Chatuchak Weekend Market are all within easy reach.
I’m guessing that back in the 1930’s, when Ernest and Robert started their Sheraton hotel chain, they had no idea what spectacular properties, like the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Bangkok, would be a part of their growing brand.
