The 16th annual Miss Universe Thailand pageant was held on the 18th of July of 2015 at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon in Bangkok. 2015 was the first year that Miss Universe Thailand has featured the same format as the Miss Universe pageant; Top Fifteen Swimsuit Competition, Top Ten evening gown competition, and Top Five Questionnaire and final look. Forty contestants came from all over Thailand to compete. The Miss Universe Thailand contest has been performed every year since 2000. The pageant was originally called Miss Thailand Universe. In 2012 it was changed to Miss Universe Thailand, winners would go forward and compete in the Miss Universe pageant. As a matter of fact, Miss Universe Thailand has no relation to the previous Miss Thailand or Miss Thailand World.
The presenters Elizabeth Sadler and Leenanuchai, Hemmawat Nittayaros were universally applauded for keeping the crowd entertained and the contest moving. The event was broadcasted nationwide on channel 3 and after three competitive rounds the women who placed top 5 were: the first runner up was Chavika Watrsang from Phuket. The second runners up were Chatchadaporn Kimakorn (Phichit), Anchalika Na Phatthalung (Phatthalung) and Ravinnipa Hamid (Bangkok).
After a very thrilling night of competition the audience was excited to find out who would be globally representing Thailand in the prestigious Miss Universe Pageant 2015.
Pimbongkod Chankaew, the deputy of Miss Universe Thailand 2014, officially crowned 20 year old Aniporn Chalermburanawong from Lampang at the end of the event. The dark haired beauty currently attends one of the top universities in Thailand, Thammasat University, where she is majoring in Social Administraton. In addition, she is also working as a professional model.
Special Awards were given to the following beauties: Miss Photogenic, went to Thunyarat Pitichot (Chiang Mai), Miss Popular, to Ravinnipa Hamid (Bangkok), Miss Smile, awarded to Aniporn Chalermburanawong (Lampang), Miss Colorful Life, which was colourfully clinched by Alisa Santitham (Chiang Mai), Miss Digital Girl, taken by Warisa Srinukun (Sakhon Nakhon) and Miss Best Creative Thai Costume, which was awarded to Preeyaporn Philaguntar (Chiang Mai).
The telecast judges were Supaphan Pichaironnarongsongkram, Petcharakorn Watcharapongsanitwong Na Ayudhya, Panya Vichinthanasan, Auendoo Disakula Na Ayudhya, Sudarat Burapatchaisri, Prissana Sukheepoj, Viluck Lhothong, Jitlada Disayanand, Chalita Yaemwannang (who had been crowned Miss Universe Thailand in 2013) and Jirayu Tangsrisuk.
Given the variety of personalities and characteristics of all the contestants, who came from different backgrounds and who possessed an array of skills and talents, the contest made it quite a challenging task for these judges and thus resulted in a very thrilling event.
